2020 Identity
Unsigned launched in 2018 with the purpose of challenging creative perspectives and championing diverse and underrepresented talent. Each year we select upcoming photographers, illustrators, animators, directors and typographers for an annual exhibition showcase hosted at BBH London. Many of the artists would normally have been overlooked for commissions or advertising campaigns due to a lack of experience. Unsigned aims to turn the spotlight on these creative individuals and disrupt the complacent industry habits.
As 2020 was the year the pandemic struck, the usual Unsigned exhibition was out of the question. This gave us the opportunity to develop the magazine on from the 2019 zine into a more comprehensive, editorial publication that would showcase our 32 artists and be posted to industry figures. Working across both print and digital, my animated visual identity featured bright colours, fluid shapes and dynamic typography. I also developed a branded instagram grid which enabled the Unsigned page to be used as a digital showcase for the artists.
